TEAS 7 Pass Rates

TEAS 7 Pass Rates (2026): What % of Candidates Hit Each Band?

There is no national TEAS 7 “pass rate” because each nursing program sets its own cutoff. What does exist is the distribution of composite scores across the five ATI proficiency bands — that distribution is what determines how many candidates each program tier will accept. These are the estimates TEASAcademy maintains from current ATI score-distribution reporting and applicant data.

Acceptance pass rate by program tier

    • Community-college ADN: cutoffs of 58.7–65% → roughly 60–65% of first-time test-takers qualify on score alone.
    • State-school BSN: cutoffs of 70–78% with per-section minimums → roughly 30–35% qualify.
    • Competitive private BSN: cutoffs of 78%+ → roughly 22–25% qualify on the first attempt.
    • Accelerated BSN (ABSN): cutoffs of 75–80% → roughly 25% qualify.

    Retake statistics

    • ~30% of TEAS 7 candidates retake the exam at least once.
    • Retake composites average 6–9 percentage points higher than first attempts when prep is restructured (diagnostic-first, A&P-first).
    • ATI requires a minimum 30-day wait between attempts.
    • Most nursing programs consider only the highest composite — retakes do not penalise.

    Mock-exam vs live-exam gap

From TEASAcademy member data, the typical gap between a final-week mock composite and the live TEAS 7 composite is ±3% when the mock is taken under realistic timed conditions (209 minutes, on-screen calculator). Members who take fewer than two full-length mocks see a gap of 6–10% on average — mock score over-estimates the live score.

What this means for your study plan

    • If your target is BSN: plan for 78%+ composite (Advanced band). That puts you in the top ~27% of test-takers.
    • If your target is ADN: 65% composite puts you above ~64% of test-takers — achievable with 4 weeks of focused prep.
    • Always take at least three full-length timed mock exams before test day to close the mock-vs-live gap.
